How does it works?

We have three natural or physiological pulses in our body. Most people know only the blood pulse (cardio vascular) and the pulse through breathing. The craniosacral pulse is the "third" and slowest one.

Our brain is protected through "brainwater" called cerebral liquor. The water is kept by the membrances. Between the headbones (CRANIUM) and the brain you will find three membranes.

The brain water is not static. Through production of the "water" the membran system gets bigger (like you when blowing air into a ballon) and before the membran will explode, the water will get re-absorbed (like the air going out of the ballon). This going "bigger" and "smaller" is happening regularly.

It will happen in one minute with a rare of 8 to 12 cycles per minute. This is the pulse of the craniosacral system.

Because of the membrane movements also the cranial bones need flexibility !! The dura mater is attached to the bones. We have seven different head bones and all need movements in their own position !

The therapist feels with the hands the different shifts of the bones and feels the movement of the membrane called craniosacral pulse. With a kind of varoius, gentle techniques he will get some influence and activate for better or smoothen the movements.

FREE MOVEMENTS MEANS HEALTHY FUNCTION

During a Craniosacral session it could be necessary to do some related work in the mouth (Maxilla, Vomer, Mandible...) because specially the Maxilla is closed connected with the Sphenoid bone.
